Instructions for using PuTTY to connect to home.cs.siue.edu

1. Run the program putty.exe that you downloaded from the website http://engineer.siue.edu/putty.exe .

2. Type "home.cs.siue.edu" into the "Host Name" field and make sure that the "SSH" option has been selected under "Protocol".

3. Click the "Open" button.

4. The first time you connect to a server (home.cs.siue.edu in this case) a message will appear on the screen asking you to add the server's host key to the cache.  If you answer "yes" to this question it will not appear again for the server home.cs.siue.edu.

5. Type your Campus (e-ID) account name and press ENTER, then type your Campus (e-ID) password and press ENTER.
